Core Values

The six values that guide every S Groups program

Our social skills training program is built on six core values that shape how we teach, support, and show up for every client and family.

Community

The safety of the groups is always the number-one priority. We aim to create a supportive community where everyone feels valued, accepted, and encouraged. Being part of a small, supportive group where everyone is working on similar social goals creates a sense of belonging.

Authenticity

We promote an environment that allows individuals to be true to themselves. We do not promote masking or camouflaging to fit in — we work with you to embrace who you are and how you think so you can live as your authentic self.

Evidence Based

We teach ecologically valid, evidence-based practices that have been shown to enhance social skills, promote social engagement, and help individuals learn how to cope with negative feelings, thoughts, and situations.

Strength Based

We focus on the positive attributes of the individual and the group rather than the negative. Our mission is to teach you ecologically valid social skills and coping techniques so you can reach your personal social goals.

Empathy

We value empathy as the foundation of our work — recognizing and understanding the unique perspectives and experiences of every person and family we work with. We strive to foster a compassionate, supportive environment for everyone we work with.

Inclusivity

We are an inclusive, welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ clients. We value and embrace the diversity, identities, and self-discovery of all of our clients and their families. Every person has unique strengths and challenges, and we strive to create a community where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued.
