The Social Solutions peer group blends the best practices from UCLA’s PEERS© curriculum, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and our proprietary methods to transform your social life.
Identify unhelpful thought patterns that may be leading you towards avoidance, self criticism, and low self esteem. Gain the tools needed to create more helpful thought patterns and strategies that will move you towards your social goals.
Boost your confidence and self-esteem through role-playing and encouragement from group members, resulting in greater increased confidence and reduced anxiety during real-life interactions.
You’ll be encouraged to actively attend and enroll in social activities, clubs, or classes based on your interests, so you can meet people with similar interests. This often leads to new friendships, decreased social anxiety, and increased confidence. Oftentimes these friendships continue after the peer group has ended.
Gain and refine essential social skills through weekly lessons, role playing with peers, and active practice outside of the group, leading to enhanced social interactions in real-world situations in all areas of your life.
Our skilled behavioral therapists and licensed clinical social workers utilize an evidence-based approach that is derived from leading research.
Experience a comprehensive curriculum that integrates methodologies from UCLA’s PEERS©, cognitive behavioral therapy, and our proprietary S Groups materials. The curriculum is taught with evidence-based teaching modalities including didactic lessons, video role playing, behavioral rehearsal (ie. role playing), and modeling and observation.
Apply new skills by practicing with similar-aged peers, allowing you to gain valuable experience and build confidence in a supportive, safe, and structured environment. Groups contain 2-8 peers, so they are small enough for you to feel comfortable while still allowing for real life practice and role play for newly learned skills.
Join peer groups via Zoom from anywhere in the U.S., offering you the flexibility to participate from the comfort of your home. Research shows that social skills training via telehealth is just as effective as in person.
Receive real-time feedback from your therapist and peers, helping you adjust and refine your social skills and increase your social awareness. Confidence increases as you practice social skills and the group develops camaraderie.
Adopted from the PEERS© model, a unique feature of this program is the inclusion of parents and caregivers. While clients attend their group, caregivers join their own group to learn how to support relationship development. Involving caregivers helps skills generalize across settings and ensures lasting improvement.
The following data is from a recent Social Solutions peer group in 2024.
100% of group participants showed an improvement in their knowledge of social skills, as measured by pre and post assessments. Each student’s score increased, reflecting enhanced understanding of the social skills taught. Some participants increased their score by over 50-80%.
All participants showed significant decreases in their social anxiety, as measured by the pre and post assessments. One student reported a 50.7% reduction in their social anxiety. 100% of group members reported lower scores when the group ended, suggesting they feel much less social anxiety than before attending the group.
During our 15 week peer group, 80% of students regularly began to attend social outings, such as going to board game cafes, art classes, and D&D games. They reported feeling more confident and used the skills they had learned to assess interest when meeting new people, felt more at ease joining group conversations, and navigating conversations. Some of our students reported making real friends when the peer group had ended, when they didn’t have any friends previously.
